Shimano Tranx Reels – Baitcasting reels

• Available in either a regular size or a HG (High Gear) design which offers an increased gear ratio! Great for both freshwater and saltwater angling, this totally new design has been created as a ‘working machine for big fish’. Highly strong, durable and reliable, this heavy duty low profile baitcasting creation which is the only one of its kind in their EU range giving it a unique feel too.
• The regular 301 & 401 models feature a double handle with paddles, whilst the High Gear models feature a single handle with a big knob. All of which are left hand wind.
• These are often used for fishing with heavy and big lures for big fish. Made for this job and that’s why it’s not one of the lightest with its 330/340 grams. Perfectly used for freshwater pike fishing with heavy lures like jerkbaits, big crankbaits and spinnerbaits with weights well over 100 grams. For saltwater, it can be used for baitcasting the same kind of lures, but will be more popular for jigging or lifebait purposes for big and hardfighting sea fish.
• XShip is a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two of their ARB roller bearings. This creates more stability.
• The HAGANE Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rocksolid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout.
• CoreProtect prevents water entering the body, from under the rotor at the front of the body, and also into the Roller Bearing unit.
• The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting designs, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
